Vessna Scheff was born in Redwood City, CA and spent her developmental years throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The diverse landscape of the Bay culturally, politically and geologically, laid the foundation for Scheff’s sensitivity to equity. Encouraged by her passion to perform, Scheff began working in watercolor through the process of making show flyers, leading to a Visual & Performing Arts teaching position at Gateway Middle School in San Francisco where she explored portraiture alongside her students. Falling in love with the complex dynamic of watercolors, she began to conceptualize and reclaim an often described as “difficult/ sketch” medium for it’s uncontrollable qualities, and rather conceptualizes the freedom of watercolors as an expression of Black liberation- always being, responding, and adapting despite the confines of oppression. After moving to Philadelphia, Scheff decided to apply, and was accepted to the Rhode Island School of Design where she is merging performance with immersive installations contextualizing society's love for all that Black womxn create while disregarding ongoingsupport of Black living and more broadly, how diasporic identities hold, create and share embodied histories. Through poetic paintings, portraits, performances, sounds, and installations that use watercolors, movement, vocals, and projections as mediums of inquiry, Scheff’s works dance with time and fall to gravity. They blend, bleed, and bloom; they stretch, they resist, they flood, and they drip- potent in texture, heavy in meaning, and rich in nuance. She will graduate with an MFA in Painting from RISD in June 2022.

I'm Erin Williams, a Black artist and creative currently based in St. Louis. I specialize in drawing, abstract acrylics, and printmaking. My work has been featured in various newsletters and sites, I have led workshops and painting classes, and in Fall 2021 I began earning an MFA in Illustration and Visual Culture from Washington University in St. Louis. From 2019-2021, I hosted and produced the podcast “In Which I Talk To Artists,” where I interviewed artists about their work and inspiration. I am also a member of Solas Studios in New York City.

Marin Emet Griffith is a creator from Denver Colorado. Embracing many mediums throughout her life, she has been most interested in how her art practice can generate personal healing and produce a dialogue around the modune beauties of life, Her practice aims to leave room for ritual in conjunction with image making. Using art as means to find ways to visualize her capacity of life through challenging motifs of race and identity as she discovers herself more closely in relation to the world around her. And she continues to make work with the goal of evoking critical conversations about connectedness, grief, Blackness, and womanhood.

Addie was born in 1997 in Denver, Colorado and received a BFA in Studio Art, with an emphasis in drawing and painting, as well as a four years of training in Animation, Film, Photography, and Motion Design at Colorado Mesa University, Grand Junction Colorado. Sabrina Sims is a Black Puerto Rican interdisciplinary artist from the Bronx. She experiments with a wide range of mediums including riso printing, zines, music and more.

Magic, transformation and subversive self care are common threads in her work. She also explores her Black Puerto Rican mixed-ness and what it means to bring soft power to those identities.
Sabrina teaches community workshops and gives artist talks as part of her practice. She is also the lead organizer for the collaborative zine Space for Black Hair and founder of Bronx Zine Scene. BxZS creates zine fairs and arts opportunities for local Black, Indigenous and Latine community.
